Use MIDI to play on Kawai MP11SE keyboard, enter notes from keyboard does not work

I have installed MuseScore 4 under Windows 10, and connected to my Kawai MP11SE via a USB cable.

After I connect the MP11SE, I can select "USB-MIDI" for MIDI input and output in preferences-IO-Midi.

However, when I play a score in Musescore, nothing happens on my MP11SE.

Also when I try to enter new notes via the MP11SE, it does not work either: when I press a key on the instrument, nothing happens in MuseScore.

What I also find puzzling is that there seems to be no configuration available in MuseScore to define which MIDI channel to send which voice on, which channel to receive for note input etc or am I missing something?

Ultemately I would like to do both in Linux, but I thought I try in Windows first just to see that I cannot get it to work even there!

Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to make this work?
