Converting Versions and back to basics

It's been two or three years since I've used Musescore. I only have one score in my account but I haven't been able to do any editing on it. How do I convert to the newest Musescore version and how do I reteach myself the basics of adding verses, adding measures, and revamping the whole piece? Thanks
