Input with MIDI Keyboard - MuseScore 4.02

I hooked up a midi keyboard to my laptop to use with MuseScore 4, however there are a few things that prevent me from using it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

1. I start MS4, and the input works like it should. Once I release a note, it moves to the next. However, once I add a chord, it doesn't move to the next beat, even when I release it. After that occurs, when I exit note-input mode and reenter it, it doesn't input notes... is there a fix?
2. in 'Real-Time (metronome)', it seems to input notes that I'm not clicking. I attached an image. I have no explanation for it.
