How to change fret position of linked tablature?
I'm trying to create linked tablature for some standard notation, but it seems to assume you're fingering from at first position. There's much easier fingering at a higher position, but I don't see any easy way to change this.
If you link a tablature staff to your standard notation staff, how do you tell the tablature to use a different position when generating the tab letters/numbers?
The attached file is for a baroque lute, but the problem is the same for standard guitar tabs. The first measure I want to play at 5th position so third finger plays the high A and second finger plays C on the 7th string.

This is eminently debatable. And I would even say that it is inaccurate. Particularly in lute music, baroque for example.

It's not a matter of debate what fingering I personally find easier to play. Even then, my fingering requires less fretting and less shifting, where playing at 1st position requires more fretting and more shifting. Everything else being equal, most people tend to like less fretting and less shifting.

I want to play his piece on a baroque lute. Just like a ton of baroque lute pieces are transcribed to be playable on classical guitar. The lute has a broader range of notes, and the open basses oftentimes make some of these classical guitar pieces easier to play, since you don't have to fret so many of the bass notes.
