Converting Midi Drums to Notation Effortlessly
Hi Marc, first off thank you for all the help on here! You’re great at responding. I’m looking for an easy way to notate my drum parts and I was hoping there was a way to play them and have MuseScore create all the notation based on what I played if I described tempo and time signature. Is there a way that MuseScore 4 can notate my drums through either live playing or a prerecorded file that I can put into the program? Notating by hand is ok and the program is really great for what it is, but I’m busy and really need to expedite sheet music production. Thank you so much!

You can import a midi file. Record your drumming with a click and then import it to MuseScore and see how it turns out. Note that you can control many things during the import such as quantizing and allowed tuples etc. My guess is depending one what you play it will be straight forward or requiring a lot of editing. Rolls will most likely not work.

Thank you for the reply! I’m looking forward to trying this. I can see rolls getting tricky for sure. I’m hoping it gets most of the bones notated properly and then I can go in and make edits as needed. This should hopefully save a lot of time.

Hello Andreas, I’m having a hard time trying to figure out how to import a file from GarageBand to Musecore so that it’s readable. Is there any tutorial out there that can assist with this? Again, this is midi drums. I tried to use anthem score but it seems it is just for piano? Thank you for any help.

I have never used GarageBand, but I assume you can export a midi file (or "save as midifile" or whatever the GarageBand terminology might be).
Then import it into MuseScore. Looking in the MuseScore 4 handbook, it seems the midi import is not implemented there yet.
But it works for MuseScore 3
