Accidental tied across the bar line not working
I'm having an issue with an accidental that is tied over the bar line and it's not working properly. I have a whole note tied to a quarter. The whole note has the accidental but the tie over the bar line to the quarter note is not carrying over without having to put the accidental in again.

Sure it is a tie and not a slur?

I'm using a slur because a tie doesn't work when the two notes are not the same length.

Sorry, but that is nonsense all that need to be is same pitch (and adjacent)

Not nonsense. It must be a glitch because when I use the tie the program changes the quarter note in the next measure to a whole note and won't let me change it back.

When you follow the guidance in the Handbook exactly, at what point does it fail to create the tie you want?

Probably a user error.
If you set a whole note, e.g. G#, and in the next measure a quarter note G, yes then it does not work because a tie works only with notes of the same pitch, G# and G are not on the same pitch!
You should change your work flow.
First set a whole note G# without having a note in the next measure (more exact: at least the first beat should have a quarter rest). Then set the new duration for quarter notes (press 5), then press '+' (shortcut for the tie in MuS 3.6.2) and you have it. This works perfectly ...
If the next measure has already a quarter note then this has to be also a G#. And then you can select the the first or both notes and press '+'.

In Mu4 T instead of +
