Errors in Score - BUG?

• Sep 6, 2023 - 03:23

Here is what MS is giving me -

Incomplete measure: Part score: Electric Guitar 1, measure 51, staff 2. Found: 9/8. Expected: 4/4.
Incomplete measure: Part score: Electric Guitar 1, measure 52, staff 2. Found: 9/8. Expected: 4/4.
Incomplete measure: Part score: Electric Guitar 1, measure 53, staff 2. Found: 9/8. Expected: 4/4.
Incomplete measure: Part score: Electric Guitar 1, measure 54, staff 2. Found: 9/8. Expected: 4/4.

I tried typing it out fresh, still was getting errors. Tried restarting and still nothing, I am continually getting this error and it is repeatable.

For info on how to fix corruptions, see https://musescore.org/en/node/54721

If you're able to figure out how to reproduce the problem from scratch - exact steps that take an uncorrupted score and then yield this - please post them. If others can reproduce the issue, then you can report this to the developers so they can try to fix the problem for a coming update.

Those guitar measures had some messed up triplets. Fortunately, the xylophone had "good" triplets which I was able to copy/paste (adjusting the octave) after deleting the "bad".
See if this works for you:

The fault does indeed lie in Electric Guitar 1 (measures 51-54). So this is how I corrected the problem:
1. Insert 4 empty measure before m.51
2. Copy across the original mm.51-54 into the empty measures for all the instruments down to Piano 2
3. Copy across the original mm.51-54 into the empty measures for all the instruments from Electric Guitar 2 down to the foot of the score
4. Delete the 4 corrupted measures with Ctrl+Delete

Now you have to enter the missing Electric Guitar 1 part for mm. 51-54. I suggest that you make a copy of the clean score, and experiment. Keep notes of each step, and hopefully you will find out what you are doing to cause the corruption.

So I tried this. It got rid of most of my errors (a few more had developed somehow), but there are still 4. These 4 are the exact same ones as were originally the issue. I made new measures, copied parts over, deleted. I was left with a blank guitar part with no errors. If I input a triplet, it breaks the measure. Look at measure 51 here - if you delete the measure, it will no longer have an error. But I am not having any success in writing a part in these measures.

Somehow?? Please follow what I said earlier:
Keep notes of each step, and hopefully you will find out what you are doing to cause the corruption."

Unless you can provide the essential "steps to reproduce", no developer can ever hope to track down the problem. Be precise, be systematic - and eventually the cause will be found.

In the last score you posted...
1. Scroll down to measure 50 in the electric guitar staff.
2. Select it and insert a measure after it.
3. Select what is now measure 52 in the electric guitar staff (not the tab).
4. Go to Tools in the menu bar and select 'Remove selected range'.
5. Select blank measure 51 in the electric guitar staff.
6. Repeat step 4.

At this point I am able to enter notes in the guitar staff measure 51 normally.

I think we are misreading his posts. It's not how he is entering triplets. He knows how to do that. Now the problem is the measure he is trying to enter the triplets into. The measure needs to go. Who knows what causes any of the many corruptions we see every day. They can be caused by just saving, or opening, or just adding a note. This one may not be reproducible.
