Dynamics are all different using new MuseScore

How can I repair my song dynamics in a big band chart? Dynamics got messed up when using a new version of Musescore. Is there a standard method? I have weird things like one section is too soft then it gets too loud at another section. Or parts are way too soft while it sounded okay in a previous version of MuseScore. Is there a standard order of things to do? Like what about velocity, then dynamics, then mixing, or something like that? I got a Maynard chart (from his box at UofTexas) and want it to sound good. Thanks.
