Percussion notation

After much work and determination, I finished the Conga part for my jazz arrangement. On the score it looks GREAT! But when I opened the 'part' all the notes were changed to different note heads. I tried to cut and paste a measure from the score to the individual part....and again....all the notation changed. I am using MS 3.
Any suggestions? Looking to rehearse this piece this week, last part to print!
