Piano music

I want to insert a dotted minim C in the bass of bar 2, which is then tied to the C in bar 1. However, whenever I do this, the software deletes the passing notes in the bass of bar 2. If I start the other way around and insert the dotted minim firstly, the software doesn't allow me to insert the passing notes.
