building chords with varying time values for different notes in chord

I'm new to musecore and having trouble entering a chord which has notes of different time values in it. For example, a chord consisting of a dotted eighth on top of a quarter note. I've looked at the online manual but haven't been able to find a solution. Thanks for any help.
