Support for Ukulele also?!
I found the new support for guitar and am very glad to see it!
However, it allows for 5-10 strings, so I am curious why not 4 strings? A ukulele, mandolin, etc. is quite similar to a guitar, so I am hoping support for ukulele is/will be available. Am I missing something?

I believe this thread is about the new strings tuning element, see also https://musescore.org/en/4.2#comment-1219199 ff.

There are plucked string instruments with just 3 strings

Got it, thanks.
I am hoping that there will be support for 4-string instruments, such as chord diagrams, as there is for guitars.

See this thread: https://musescore.org/en/node/283424 about inserting and using ukelele chord diagrams, with links to a downloadable palette - it’s for MS3 but presumably the principle will work on MS4. If not it is perfectly possible to install MS3 alongside MS4.
It actually should support 1-12 strings, same limits as for fretboard diagrams
MuseScore supports Ukulele just fine. Can you explain more what you are having trouble with? Did you add a ukulele instrument to your score, or are you trying to manually change a guitar staff into a ukulele staff?

But the new string tuning thing does not (fully), as it doesn't support instruments with just 4 strings

Does for me. I added a ukulele then a tuning, and I see this:
Are there some additional steps I'd need to follow in order to run into limitations with this?

Interesting, need to recheck. Does that pull down menu provide more, smaller, choices?

Not as long as the instrument itself is set to four strings. But If I add an actual 3-stringed instrument (eg, bouzouki), I do see only three strings listed when add a tuning.

It I take a Ukulele and remove 2 strings, I still see 4 strings in that tuning element though

I guess the "Guitar" palette should rather be named "Plucked strings"

Just to be clear, I saw that the recent release of MS has a significant advancement of Guitar-related features. The previous version already had support for guitar and ukulele, so I was wondering if there was any significant advancement of the ukulele-related features also, or if the new stuff is entirely guitar-specific.

The tuning feature works for ukulele, so do the bends, etc. And all the various fixes for tablature work for all plucked stringed instruments. And all the general engraving and other improvements apply to all instruments, including ukulele. Really, pretty much all features introduced in 4.2 apply equally to ukulele. There just don't happen to be any new ukulele sounds yet.

Oh, wow; that is great to hear! From the promotion for 4.2 it sounded like there were significant improvements specific to Guitar, but from what Marc said they are not at all that narrow. As Jojo said, it would be more appropriately labeled Plucked Strings instead of Guitar, so it is clear to everyone the breadth of the new advances.
