Helper Status Not Running/Connected & Score Crashes

• Dec 21, 2023 - 17:52

I have been using Musecore & MuseHub for a while now, but for some odd reason in Musehub, all my muse sounds are uninstalled and when I try to re-install them, a message pops up saying the muse background service is not running. So when I try to press the connect button next to the Helper Status (not sure if they're the same thing or connected) It won't do anything, it'll just stay there. On top of that, whenever I try to open up a score, it is very laggy and crashes my whole program. Note, this hasn't happened before, everything worked perfectly and this just sort of came out of no where. Any help is appreciated!
Note - I have tried to run the program as administrator and uninstalled, reinstalled the program, and even searched up videos to see if anyone had the same issue but found nothing.. Nothing seems to be working

  1. If you are on Windows, go to Windows>Program data>Muse Hub>Downloads>Instruments. Muse sounds should be there.
  2. You don't really need the Hub for anything except checking for updates. I have everything turned off in the Hub. Then scroll to the bottom and close it. Once in a while I open the HUB, select the gear icon in the upper right. That will let me know if there are updates. Sometime you need to select the Check for updates icon. Close the Hub after you are done.

Thanks for replying! Yes, I still have my muse sounds even though in Musehub I don't have them installed. Once that helper status not connected popped up, my Musecore has been un-useable, I can't run any previous scores i've composed if I get through loading all the sounds, as soon as I try to do anything with the score, it immediately crashes. Even when I try to create a new score with simple quarter notes, the play back is horrible and it just eventually crashes. This has not happened before..

There was an update to the HUB a bit ago. Normally I wouldn't advise a reinstall. But in this case I would delete the HUB altogether. You don't need it to run MU4 with Muse sounds. Run MU4 to see if it works. If so I would close MU4, and restart Your computer. Run MU4 again. Then close MU4 and think about maybe installing the HUB. But again don't turn anything on and always Quite the HUB (not close).
