Slurs and Pedal
I've attached a photo, but could someone tell me why there are continuous slurs but also pedaling? I thought slurs meant legato, if so, why is there the pedals as well? Or if I'm using a pedal, why bother doing legato?

They are phrase markings. A live player would probably interpret them using subtle variations in dynamic and/or tempo and possibly mark them by shortening the final note. Computers need to be told exactly what to do to produce every nuance. That can be done but it is beyond just following notation. It's called musicianship.

Oh, I thought the markings meant that's how it's supposed to be played. Thank you for explaining, so basically it's not super important unless you really want to get into it
