Unable to open MXL file - "bad format" error message
Hello everyone,
I tried to open a file which I found on CPDL but when I tried to open it I received the error message "bad format" with the following detail: "Error reading container.xml at line 1 column 1: unexpected end of file"
Is it possible to open this file? I tried renaming it to a .zip file but this didn't work either.
I would really appreciate some guidance on this. File is attached for your reference.
Thanks in advance!
Hazel

renaming to .zip, extracting Ver-mac.musicxml and then opening that does work though, if you tgnore the MusicXML error and the corruption...

Thank you for your speedy reply!
Which programme would you use to extract the .musicxml file? I tried my normal Archive Utility on my mac and it said "Unable to expand. It is in an unsupported format."

7-Zip or Explorer on Windows 11. And to open a .mxl file, renamed to .zip
The .musicxml file openes directly in MuseScore

Hi there,
Sorry to re-open this thread. Can you recommend a program to extract the file to a Mac rather than Windows? I'm finding that Unarchiver is not successful.
Thanks
