On choir score, many notes for tenors are displayed in red
Hello,
I imported an xml file generated by Sharpeye into Musescore. This comes from the recognition of a choir score as a TIFF file.
Just after import Musescore did not know it was a choir score, so I attributed "instruments" to each of the parts. I attributed them as Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass respectively. Strangely the Tenor part sounds much too high (like a Soprano), and this fits in with the fact that most of the tenor notes appear in red.
Any help would be appreciated.
Strangely, when I create a choir score with these four voices ex nihilo the tenors sound normal
I have made a selection that represents the problem.
Thanks in advance
Henri

Well, they are just an octave too high
Try this
And note this little difference

I can see that this is an indication that notes are really one octave lower than what would otherwise be the case.
Now the fact that this was not added automatically when the instrument change to tenor was done after the import of the music xml file is in my opinion a design flaw or a bug.

It is a flaw of the PDF import. Changing an instrument never changes pitches

XML import in this case.
Oh, OK. Thankyou.
I put a treble clef with a little 8 subscript on top of my Tenor part treble clef. Then all the notes rose by an octave. Now I will have to read the doc to figure out how to bring them down.

You need to put the little 8 BELOW that treble clef! Look again in the palette.

Select the entire staff (Select first measure Shift+Ctrl+End), then Crtrl+Down

Done that, thanks

No, PDF import into SharpEye, the XML is broken then already (prove me wrong by attaching the XML)

Actually, Sharpeye does not work with PDF directly (mine does not, anyway). I use TIFF produced from the PDF.
Yes, I thought of your idea concerning Sharpeye not producing a correct XML export. It cannot realise that it is dealing with a Tenor part.
Still, I would have thought that when you attribute tenor as an instrument to an existing score it would have modified the clef, while keeping the note positions invariant.
Anway, your suggestions have been very helpful and this is a relatively minor issue.

MuseScore never changes pitches unless explicitly asked to
