Copy or save the score in the template folder under a suitable name.
Your score template does not need to have more than one measure and does not need to contain notes or a key signature. These things are queried when you create a new score from this template, and the new notes are then written. However, it does not matter if an existing score is used for this purpose.
However, the selection of instruments, their arrangement and the text styles are adopted. And I think that you have to have a dummy entry for the title.
