"Conductor Score" for Guitar Chord Melody

• Jun 26, 2024 - 23:21

Hello Musescore People:

FIrst: Thanks for being a part of this wonderful work! I"m an old guy learning music, and your solftware really helps alot!

I've composed a simple chord melody for Joseph Kosma and Johnny Mercers jazz standard, "Autumn Leaves."

It is only for me and nobody else.... I'm doing it as a way of learning.

I want to write something like a conductor's score for my arrangment with my chord melody arrangment is the top staff, and the 1 note melody is in the bottom staff. Also, for the tops staff, I want to put the notes of each chord in that staff, and also put the guitar fingering diagram above that staff where the chord stacks are.

I've used Musescore alot to transcribe chord melodies a fair amount, creating the chord stack, and then putting a fingering diagram on top if it....

... so what I want not know is: how to I get that 2nd staff beneath it that has just the melody?

Thank you!
Old J

Press i to open the add instruments dialog and add an additional instrument to your score for the melody.

Here's a file with a 1 note melody in the bottom staff (but the notes are not played). Only the guitar "arrangement" is heard:

The chord symbols on the top staff were cut/pasted from the melody line (which was actually from a lead sheet w/ lyrics).
It often happens that lead sheet melodies need octave adjustments when playing solo finger-style guitar.
