Keyboard not connecting

• Aug 31, 2024 - 17:05

I have a Yamaha Portable Grand DGX-300. I have it connected to my computer and it is not connecting. I went to the gear icon and the MIDI is enabled. I went to Preferences, Audio & MIDI, MIDI input & output has an arrow with "no device" or "USB MIDI interface". I click on the USB.... and the field goes blank. Can anyone help me know what to do so I can use my keyboard with this program? Thanks in advance!

If your keyboard connects and plays thru any other midi enabled program on your system its not your keyboard. I am using a yamaha psr 670 work station and muse score doesn't even seat that. yet programs like Sonar and even windows media player picks it up and plays my midi files thru that. I suggest you find an alternative app to play your music thru and until such time that they resolve these issues use that. When exporting to midi muse score doesn't even put the right instruments in their respective channels. For example the midi standard is channels 1 - 9 for pitched instruments and channels 9 and 10 for percussion. Channels 11 - 16 are also for pitched instruments. Yamaha reads both midi format 0 and midi format 1 files. These are the standard midi formats. Even when you import files in these formats muse score causes an absolute mess with them. So trying to get your computer to talk to muse score and visa versa is going to be a BIG head ache
