Measures per system

• Sep 17, 2024 - 20:37

I have a 4 measure system that I need to add a measure to, to make a 5 measure system at the end of the score. How can I do that?

Comments

  1. Select the measure,
  2. Go to Add menu (at the top left corner),
  3. Hover on Measures,
  4. Click on which option works for you, *Suggested: Insert at the end of the score...
  5. Specify how many measures you want to add and click Ok.

Hope this helps.

That tells the OP how to add a measure to the score, not how to fit 5 measures into the final system.

This section of the handbook gives more relevant advice https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/systems-and-horizontal-spacing#Grou…

Indeed, I recommend reading the whole of the handbook article on formatting https://musescore.org/en/handbook/4/formatting as there are many ways to control the number of measured fit on a system or on a page. Each method has its uses depending in the desired outcome.

[Ctrl] B adds a measure at the end of the score
If there is a break at the end of the pre-existing last measure you will need to delete it

Explore the Layout palette and what its tools do. I believe you want to use the Group measures tool from that palette for what you are trying.

Good luck!
