Best approach for chord symbols in a orchestral sketch / condensed score?

I am writing a orchestral sketch for a piece and I am working with 6 staves in a system. When reviewing my work with others, I will create a PDF of the score and hide the empty staves.

I would like to add chord symbols to the top staff of the visible system so that I can always see the chord progression at a glance while I'm creating my mock.

It seems that I have a few ways of accomplishing this, but neither seems to be a perfect solution:

  1. Use the Chord Symbol feature (Ctrl+K).
This solution works great at first (because I can turn off the playback), but fails when the staff is otherwise empty (the page view will show a whole staff containing only rests and the chord symbols). If possible it would be great to hide that unused staff.

  2. Use staff text.
This is essentially the same as the previous option, but there is no need to consider playback.

  3. Use system text.
This works great in that staves that are unused don't appear in the output PDFs. However, if I need to modify or cut/paste sections, the system text becomes unwieldy since I can't copy/paste the system text along with the staff information (i.e. https://musescore.org/en/node/360006). It's also a pain because if I want to keep my original piano sketch and create a new musescore file, I would have to make a copy and modify the instruments instead of just copy pasting the information into a new file.

Is there another approach that recommended that solves for both issues, or am I just out of luck for now?
