Changing instruments on the same staff

I'm in the process of transcribing keyboard parts for a few songs that use many different sounds, and it would be more convenient for me to have everything on a single staff or two, indicating the sound changes when they occur.

I'm currently using a piano staff and text annotations (Ctrl+Shift+T), but of course this does not modify the sound when I play back the sheet.

Is there any way to have actual sound changes along with those indications without using additional staves?
