For V4 it has been promised for "asap" by Tantacrul.

4.5 is scheduled for end of February. And I doubt whether that'll contain the metronome count-in, the current development builds don't have it and I don't see any pending code changes. The corresponding issue doesn't have any linked PRs against it, see https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/issues/9183 (it got locked, for some stupid reason, seems the 'me too's annoyed someone from the team too much)
It is a P1 issue, yet unresolved since almost 3 1/2 years, and not even scheduled for the next release yet
So that "ASAP" is pretty pointless
