Start clef cannot be changed after line break with an End Repeat Barline
Not sure if this is an issue, a no-fix or a request.
Using:
OS: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore Studio version (64-bit): 4.5.0-250721848, revision: 7c55023
After an End Repeat Barline on a line break, the next line forbids a change in the Start Clef.
Only a mid-measure clef after the Start Clef can change the clef of the line.
To recreate
- Create new score and create a line break with an End Repeat Barline.
- Attempt to change the Start Clef on the new line.
- Start Clef will remain the same but is followed by a new mid-measure clef.
Expected outcome is that the start cleft would change to the chosen new clef.
e.g.
This is Haydn's Allegro in F Major No. 2 from 12 Short Pieces, Hob.XVII:Anh which has the expected outcome I want.
In addition, each time I highlight the first bar of the new line and click on the clef choice in the palette a new mid-measure clef appears on top of the first and so on. I can created dozens of mid-measures that are a nonsensical cluster especially if I choose a mix of clefs from the palette. I would expect the new clef to replace the previous one or even to negate it leaving no mid-measure clef.

To me that qualifies as a bug worth reporting on GitHub

Ok.
Should I create a GitHub account and click on New Issue on this page?

You can change the default clef position by setting the value to before

Yes that's worked for me, thanks.
It isn't quite obvious though. If it's always going to be like that then it needs to be highlighted in the Handbook.
Even with your advice, I was clicking on the Start Clef and seeing that the Properties were greyed out. Took me a moment to realise I needed to click on the new mid-measure clef to be able to click on Before.
