Issues with Linux
I finally got Ubuntu on my chromebook, and can finally get back to writing music on Musescore. However, I am having some issues. First off, I can almost never see flats. The software knows they're supposed to be there, I just can't see them. Also, anytime I try to edit my preferences, Musescore crashes. Is there a fix for this?

What version of MuseScore? Can you share the score that is not showing those flats?

V. 1.2
Revision 5470
It's supposed to be in Bb Major.

1.2 is pretty old, even 1.3 is old, but still the latest official release, upgrade at least to that, or to 2.0 Beta 2 (but that may be difficult to get going on Linux)

Because of the processor on my chromebook, it's difficult to specify what versions of software I get, but I'll give it a shot.

Well, the piano is in Db major/Bb minor, but trombone in Bb major/G minor, pretty strange?
Anyway, where are you missing flats? I don't see any, except in the key signatures, where would you expect them?
Dou you by chance want some courtesy accidentals? If so, add them via the palette.

Oh, I forgot to change the piano key (because I couldn't see the flats, I just guessed). In the key signature palette, none of the flat keys show any flats, and the key signature doesn't show the flats.

Strange, it does here, MuseScore 1.3 on Windows 7

Yeah. I guess Ubuntu is just going to be a temp fix. At least I can get back to writing the compositions I lost when my hard drive crashed in August. I'll need to get another PC eventually so I can use iTunes and Steam, anyway.

Check your file system for fonts having mscore in their names and remove/rename them.

I found a fix. I just had to manually create all flat keys.

FWIW, I too am running MuseScore on a Chromebook under Ubuntu. it works just fine. Whatever issue you are seeing with flats is not an inherently problem with this configuration. Could you provide more information? Are you saying that when you open the Key Signature palettes on the left side of the screen, the key signatures for F, Bb, Eb, etc all appear blank, but when you hover over them, they still report the proper names? Do the sharps appear OK?

Yes, yes, and yes.

Can you try a factory reset?
