Undo not working when items added from CREATE menu
Version 2695
O.S. Windows XP
Description
When items (Barlines, Clefs, Key sigs, Time sigs, Lines, Brackets, Accidentals, Symbols) have been dragged onto the score from the pallet windows opened from the CREATE menu, UNDO does not work whilst the pallet window remains open. After the pallet window is subsequently closed the changes can then be undone.
This is not the case when any of these items is dragged onto the score from the "Drop down" pallets at the left of the main screen. When items are dragged from there, UNDO remains functional at all times.
Comments
Confirmed that Ctrl+Z does not work. Edit > Undo works fine.
(Tested using r. 2698 nightly, Windows XP)
True, I was using CTRL+Z for undo
It would actually appear that CTRL+Z only works when the main window has focus
I have also discovered that the same problem with undo occurs after dragging "Breaks and Spacers" from the pallet window opened from the LAYOUT menu
My first guess is that the behavior is by design : When several windows are displayed, the one with the focus gets the keyboard input.
Not sure it's the right place, but we could question the presence of the break and spacers menu item.
Maybe it's better to display the palettes (F9) by default and get ride of the matching menu items when they display a palette?
The dynamics, time signature, key signature, and symbols palettes in the Create menu have more features than the F9 palettes.
One problem with the palettes is accessibility. The palettes do not offer a keyboard equivalent (interaction is solely via drag-and-drop or double click using the mouse). Usually GUI items are doubled in the menu to offer keyboard equivalents to mouse interactions.
fixed in rev. 2712. Undo/Redo is now a application wide shortcut.
Automatically closed -- issue fixed for 2 weeks with no activity.
