New user, can't get lyrics to work
I just downloaded musescore today, because I'm trying to get an old hymn into electronic form so I can get a clean copy of it. But I'm having trouble adding lyrics. I input the four-part piano score, went back to the beginning, clicked on the first note, and nothing happens. Having tried this multiple times, I get eitehr a "No note selected" error message, or the Time Score or Clef dialogue boxes pop up. That or it starts putting extra notes in. Help!

First, make sure you are *not* in note entry mode, and have nothing else selected. Press Esc a couple of times before beginning should ensure this.
Themn carefully click (single, not double) just one note and only one note. Make sure you see it turn blue (or the color corresponding to its voice). Then press Ctrl+L (Mac: Cmd+L). You should see a cursor below the staff where you can start typing.

Thank you! I thought I had it not in note entry mode the first few times I tried it. That wasn't working--nothing happened--so I wonder what I was doing wrong? Then I tried it in note entry mode and at least something happened, even if it was the wrong something.
BTW, is there any way to make the staves and notes and lyrics bolder/darker/thicker?

In the 2.0 beta & nightly builds, there are style settings to control such things. Not so much in 1.3, although you *can* set the lyrics font in Style / Edit Text Style / Lyrics odd(even) lines.
