Unmetered music
Hi,
I score a lot of unmetered church music (no time signature; barlines are just used to break up phrases). It would be great if there were an unmetered option in MuseScore.
As things stand, I have to count up the number of beats in each bar, create a new time signature for each bar, then render the signatures invisible. Sort of a pain.
I can tell that time signatures are pretty deeply embedded in the way MS handles note entry, but I can always dream!

I created a new score, Time Signature 60/4;
I entered the notes;
Click the first measure> Stave properties I deselected Show clef and Show time signature.
As explained here: http://musescore.org/en/node/24449
Try to see if it is satisfactory (for now at least)
double post :-(
but I forgot: drag the barlines from the palette , release to the left of the note
It's actually much easier in 2.0, no need to count beats. Just start entering notes, then use Edit / Measure / Join Measures and Edit / Measures / Split Measure to assemble them or break them up as needed.

Tried that, works great. Just what I needed. Thanks.

Another thank you: I've been working with the "join measures" feature, and for people who do the kind of work I do with music it is a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT in MuseScore. Thanks so much to whoever developed it!

Hey John have you checked out the unmetrical templates I did for MuseScore 2 beta?
You'll find them under the Choral section.
