remember changes in preferences
hello
I have started to always use the latest Nightly, but every time I have to set my preferences, text styles etc.
Is there anyway to make a new version inherit the current choices?
When the new 09.6. is ready, will it be an "update" to the 096 Beta 2, so that the preferences set in Beta2 will carry on in the new version.?
regards
ph

For me the preferences remain in place for every nightly build. I'm on Windows 7. What operating system are you using?

MuseScore 0.9.6 will not inherit the preferences of the nightlies. The settings are stored in two different files to be able to run a nightly and a stable version in parallel for testing purpose. (except if someone stands up to change that of course)

hi,
Will it inherit from 0.9.6.beta2?

Yes normally it should inherit from 0.9.6 beta2 or older beta/prereleases

I have XP professional. It should be the same.
Do you install a new nigtly in a separate map or in the same map as the previous nightly? Do you delete anything before installing?

I usually copy to the same folder each time but I shouldn't matter where you decompress the files to. MuseScore saves the settings in the same place
On Windows 7 it is:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\MusE\MuseScoreNightly\
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\MusE\MuseScoreNightly.ini
On Windows XP it is probably something like (I'm guessing):
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\MusE\MuseScoreNightly\
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\MusE\MuseScoreNightly.ini

Does the previous nightly have to be removed prior to installing the next one?
hi
If I set the offset for Chordname Y-axis to -2.00 instead of -4.00 it is not remembered after restart.
OK, I admit it is not in the "preferences"-department. But should it not be possible to set this as default?

Styles are saved on a score-by-score basis. If you open the same score you will see that the Chordname offset is remembered after restart. For more information about styles see http://musescore.org/node/3923
Is there an answer to this question? I've just installed 3.6 beta, but it doesn't see my preferences from 3.5 stable :(

3.6 RC and and 3.x release don't share their settings, 3.6 Beta and RC share their settings with 3.x development builds

If you wish to copy the settings over, you need to find the INI file (location depends on OS) and copy it. For Linux it's in ~/.config/MuseScore. Not sure about other systems.
