Entering musid: How do I select? How do I erase? Beaming?
Item 1: I'm having trouble selecting a note (for example to select the first note of a group of notes I want to copy or delete). When I'm in "Note" mode and try to select a note, I click exactly on the note head. Instead of selecting the note, a new note is added in addition to the note that I'm trying to select. Thus, I can't "select." Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I know the manual says to Control+Click to extend a selection but I can't even start the selection.
Item 2: Is there a feature similar to the "eraser" that is in Finale Notepad, where you can use the eraser to click on a particular note or rest and just delete that item one at a time?
Item 3: I'm in 4/4 time. The music I'm entering consists of 4 sets of notes per measure with each set being an 8th note followed by 2 16th notes. When I enter a measure, the program beams all 12 notes together. I can use the beam feature from the palette to then tell the program where to start new beams within the 12 notes. But when I enter a similar sequence in each following measure, I again have to re-beam all the notes the way I want them. Is there a way to tell the program that I want them beamed like the ones I just "fixed." I think I read something about a "similar" feature when I was reading the manual.

Have you had a look through the on-line Handbook? There are many answers there.
Best regards,
Yes, I've read both the online manual and the local manual. Neither has anything helpful on these three issues. For example, the manuals just talk about selecting something. They don't say how to select something. I assume that to select a note you click on it with your mouse. However, when I click on a note (exactly on the note head), the program just adds another note - which is not what I want. I want to select the particular note - not add another note.
There is nothing in either manual about an "erase" or "eraser" feature.
There is nothing helpful in the manuals with regard to my question regarding how I want to beam notes that I'm entering in a more efficient manner.

I guess the first thing to understand is that there are basically 2 modes: entry and edit.
If you wish to deposit notes, the N is selected, a note head will appear at the cursor to guide placement. If you wish to select notes to edit them, you need to be in edit mode, N unselected.
A selection arrow appears.
To select a note or rest, click on them with this pointer. To select a range, either "lasso" a group or select the first note of the group and then Shift-select the last. Then perform your operations.
Regards.
