Translate instruments.xml
Hi,
just wondering what to translate in instruments.xml. I can see that there are , , etc. that could be translated. What should I translate? And should I just pick the instruments.xml from latest trunk?

You can translate the content of name and short name tags. You can also translate the name of the groups.
Take a look to one of the other languages : http://mscore.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/mscore/trunk/mscore/share/temp…
The trunk is fine indeed.

Ok, thanks!

Example:
{instrument}
{name}Snare Drum{/name}
{short-name}Sn. Dr.{/short-name}
{stafflines}1{/stafflines}
{clef}14{/clef}
{drumset}1{/drumset}
{Drum pitch="37"}
{head}1{/head}
{line}4{/line}
{voice}0{/voice}
{name}Side Stick{/name}
{stem}2{/stem}
{/Drum}
{Drum pitch="38"}
{head}0{/head}
{line}4{/line}
{voice}0{/voice}
{name}Acoustic Snare{/name}
{stem}2{/stem}
{/Drum}
{channel}
{program}0{/program}
{/channel}
{/instrument}
In the section {Drum pitch...} should I translate the {name} within that subsection?
(< and > replaced with { and }, since the forum otherwise understands them as tags. Anyone who knows how to overcome this?)
In reply to Example: {instrument} by Soerboe
Correct. The name "Side Stick", "Acoustic Snare", etc. appears in a tooltip when you hover over the corresponding note in the Drums palette.
In reply to Example: {instrument} by Soerboe
You can encode > with > ; (without space) and < with < ; (without space too).
You can use a webservice to do the encoding.

Under the section "Organ" should I (try to) translate anything other than the "name" and "short-name" tags? There's alot of midiactions with name, but I'm not sure what to translate.
And also: what's the difference between "contrabass" and "double bass" if any? Wikipedia tells me its just two synonyms for the same instrument.
In reply to Under the section "Organ" by Soerboe
"contrabass" and "double bass" are two words for the same thing. I think they are both included so that people can quickly add the instrument with the name they prefer. If there is only one word in your language then feel free to remove one of them. To remove an instrument delete the text starting from
<instrument>
and ending with</instrument>
The new "organ" text is new to the latest developments on the trunk for MuseScore. Feel free to test it out. I don't know much about it yet.
