Synthesizer
Hi.
Is it possible to change the original synthesizer Muse?
For example, as Tux Guitar and VirtualMidiSinth.
The problem is that Merlin TuxGuitar soundfont that sounds pretty good, Muse not just convinced me, the sounds of strings.
The overall sound is metallic look, I have canceled the effects, Reverb, Echo, etc.
Perhaps there is some trick to get the best sound.
A greeting and thanks to the creators of this great program.

See the Handbook section on Soundfonts to see how to load a different one.
As someone more learned than me said:
In the bar menu, chose the "SEE" menu.
Then chose the "SYNTHESIZER" option.
You will get a window like the attached file, with the SoundFont you have load into MuseScore.
The sound you hear from MuseScore are the sounds from those SoundFont files.
So, you can load any SoundFonts you have on your PC.
When you load the SoundFonts, you have to chose the sound you want on the Mixer window (same "SEE" menu).
On the Mixer window, you will be able to chose the instrument you want for the list that will appear in the small window below the three buttons (Mute, Solo, Percussion Set) of each "track" (or channel).
The order of the instruments on that list will depend on the order you load the SoundFont files
in the Synthesizer window.
Greetings!!!
Juan

Juan thank you very much and sorry for the ruction, you know that there are technical terms that are hard to understand in English, on the contrary is the same.

?? This is the English Forum.
Not that I mind you posting in your own language - but it would be great for me and others not fluent in what I believe to be Spanish to understand your posts so that we may know whether your problem is solved or not.

Sorry!!! I'm so sorry!!! I should had to write in english. Please, excuse me.
BTW: What I wrote is about violin, viola, cello and double-bass has always 3 channels on the mixer (one for the normal play, another for the pizzicato play and the last for tremolo play). And we can change it in the score using an "Staff Text" and using the properties window of that function.
Greetings!!!

When it comes to "strings"—i.e., GM preset 48—the "trick to get the best sound" is to use Timbres of Heaven (see https://musescore.org/en/node/36171#list). ;-) Not necessarily for other instruments, but for that specific patch, definitely. Try it. You'll be impressed.

The web link from your link was guide me to a endless loop (one captcha to another to another to another...)
Is there the only link to get it? ???

Unfortunately, it is what it is. It could be worth trying in a different browser… or asking Mr. Don Allen to not use MediaFire to host his SoundFont.
However, I was able to get through, and I copied the final download link. I'm not sure if this will work, but here goes: http://download2185.mediafire.com/wbtah1jb0u4g/g2wi5800snn7x78/Timbres+…

I got to download the compressed file (*.zip), but when I try to recover the compressed information, I just got an error message: "File is damaged".

And... Finally, I could download that soundfont!!!
I had to use Mozilla Firefox (normally I use Google Chrome) and to download "7Zip", first.
The file is so big!!!
But the only one really awesome sound from that, is Violin.
Too much bytes to just one new sound!!!
Just my taste.
Greetings
Juan

Interesting—to me the Violin sound in Timbres of Heaven is not especially lifelike. It's the patch called "Don's Strings" that to me is the most realistic string section in the world.
But you've recently started working with Polyphone—you might be able to create your own custom SoundFont with the best instruments from different SoundFonts. That way you wouldn't be wasting so many bytes of space (three hundred million of them!) to get that one sound out of Timbres of Heaven.
