Which templates specifically?
In case you don't know, creating template is as easy as create a score and save it in Documents/MuseScore/Templates

It will show up as a regular Template file after you reboot MuseScore
2.0.1 has lots of templates, and 2.0.2 (just released two days ago) adds quite a few more. There are actually far more templates in 2.0.2 than in any previous release - over twice as many as 1.3.
However, from your user name, I guess maybe you mean the Salvation Army and UK brass bamd templates. We were never able to find anyone who was willing to help update those templates for 2.0. If you have the necessary expertise, maybe you could assist.

There is an improved Concert Band template already in 2.0.2. It should only be SA and UK templates that are missing. As I mentioned, we tried to get people experienced with these particular styles to help undate them for 2.0, but no one stepped forward, so that is why they were not included.
By help, I mean, create the templates that you think would be most generally useful to the largest numebr of users and submit them for inclusion in a future release. As mentioned, creating a tempalte is simple - just set up a score the way you like and save it your personal Templates folder. Then it is available next time you start MuseScore. So do some experimenting until you get what you think is a good set of generally-useful templates, then maybe post them on the forum for feedback.

Just attach your proposed templates to a post, using the "File attachments" link right below where you type. Then others who have some familiarity with these particular types of ensembles can givw feedback, and hopefully reach some sort of consensus, and then we can talk about how to actually get them included.
Although actually, it seems there was *some* movement toward this a few months ago, just never completed. Maybe start by checking out the proposed templates in #31371: Add Brass Bands template(s). I think perhaps those were not taken as is because there were just too many of them. Part of the work to be done is to figure out how to narrow it dowqn to just a small handful of the most useful combinations that people can then customize for their own needs, not have separate templates for every possible variation.

I don't really know brass bands (actually, I don't know brass bands at all), so I'm afraid I can't offer any help. But, @Theamateurmarchcomposer (I'm an amateur march composer too!), your help creating these templates would be very much appreciated.

This is all good to learn. Next step is how to have it appear on the template file which drops down when I begin a new score. I can go to documents/musescore/templates and my new large brass ensemble template appears, but is there a way to add it to the drop-down?

PS--I used to have another template I created [and use a lot] on that drop-down, but with the change to 2.0.2 I lost that on the drop-down menu of templates. I'd love to get that one back, too.

Which drop down? There is no drop down for templates. Maybe you are thinking of the drop down that appears when you *don't* choose a tempalte but instead pick "Choose Instruments", and lets you filter the instrument list according to different genres (Jazz, Orchestral, Ethnic, etc)? That has nothing to do with a template, that is just a way of filtering the instrument list when adding them one by one. You can if you want add your own "genres" by creating a customized version of the instruments.xml file (see Edit / Preferences / Score), but you'd still have to selec the instruments individually one by one. Templates are better; the instruments are then preselected, and you can always add or delete some later.

Yes, when I need to "Choose Instruments". In 1.3, I created a set voicing that was labelled a template, one that I used every day. I selected my individualized template when prompted to "Choose Instruments". I don't even remember how I created it in 1.3, but I wish I could duplicate it again--it would save some time. Does edit/preferences/score serve that function, that is, create the instrumentation once and have that as a template for all other pieces for the same genre?

I still don't understand. 1.3 supported templates, but didn't give you any supported way of creating them or accessing them other than using administrator privileges to add it to the installation Templates folder. in 2.0, creating a template is dead simple - simply save a score to yyour *own* Tempaltes folder. And then next time you start MuseScore, this template will appear in the list of the templates when you go to create a score. But in neither 1.3 not 2.0 are templates ever presented as a drop down list. In 1.3, it was just a list of filenames. In 2.0, there is a nicely organzied set of thumbnails showing your templates. If you save a templates to your Templates folder, it shows up, with thumbnail, in this window.
So, as far as I can see, at no time is a drop down list ever involved with templates in either 1.3 or 2.0. So again, I just don't understand what you are asking about.

As clearly as I can: I was able to start a new piece of music [in 1.3] and, when prompted to "create a new score", I scrolled down and clicked on one I created with my own personalized scoring for the type arrangement I was to work on. This personalized "template" showed up amongst the other stock templates. I simply clicked that and then "next" and proceeded to set up the arrangement, substituting the title of the piece for the "template name". Now, each time I have to set up the instrumentation I need, which is usually the same for most arrangements.
I am not complaining, MuseScore is invaluable, but it does take more time without my personalized "template". I would just like to be able to do it as I used to do it. If you can recommend any way to include this ability when I begin a new score, I would certainly appreciate the help! I've come a long way in the past 18 months thanks to you and the other contributors, but I am always learning something!

Again, MuseScore 2.0 *dcoes* create templates, and makes it much easy than 1.3. Have you tried doing what I escribed? Here are the steps, stated simply:
1) create a score, set up however you like
2) save it your your Templates folder
3) close and restart MuseScore
4) create a new score
At that point the template you created will appear, with thumbnail, in the list of templates available. Again, at no time do you need to use any drop down menu.

Wherever your Scores folder is, just go up one level and you'll see Templates right next to it. Or see Edit / Preferences to see the folders MuseScore uses.
