Computer Does not recognize Installation software for Musescore 2.0.2
When I went to download and install the new Musescore Update, I downloaded sexiest fully, but when I went to install the update, the computer showed a warning that the Windows installer did not recognize the software's installation certification as a Microsoft installation format. I cannot install the latest update for this reason.

Try a Nightly (runs without installation)

I am having the same problem in Windows 10. I tried the afore mentioned fix but in Windows 10 there is no run command at all for .msi files so adding a "run as &administrator" and subsequent command key is worthless. Is there an AppX version of the update file available?

have you already tried https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings-0 ?

That does not make sense as a solution to the problem. Changing Musescore itself will not cause the computer to recognize the .msi file as an update. It will not open the file and in Windows 10 it does not have a "run" command built in for this type of file. Program and App developers were supposed to begin switching update files to AppX a long time ago. Musescore is behind the curve on this.

Switching to APX would leave any Windows before 8.1 behind, if I read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro-style_apps#APPX correctly. and 'long time ago' is a bit of a stretch then, Windows 8.1 is still quite new.
Also APPX seems to be for mobile apps, so might be suitable to the MuseScore Songbook app, which currently only exists for Android and iOS

There are converters that Windows has provided to program developers to help them in the switch over to AppX over .msi. You can read about it here http://blogs.msmvps.com/installsite/blog/2015/05/03/the-future-of-windo…
This blog was written in May. In the software world that was a long time ago.

@cdover Alternatively, try out the portable version of MuseScore for Windows: https://musescore.org/en/download/musescore-portable.exe
