Default Export Folders
On the Preferences-Export tab, can you add a list of default folders (especially MIDI, PDF, & MusicXML)? One of the things I hate most about NoteWorthy Composer is having to constantly navigate up and down folder trees whenever I want to export files (which I do daily, sometimes several times). Having default export locations would be a great time saver.

MuseScore remembers the last folder you exported to, which should amount to roughly the same thing. Also, for more flexibility if you do lots of batches of files with similar settings, you could use shell scripts or the like to automate conversions.

Remembering the last folder wouldn't save us any time—it just moves the problem somewhere else.
When we export a file, it's almost always to a different location than the previous export (because we organize files by the spelling of the file name). So we have to do the tedious up-and-down tree traversal every time. Instead we'd like to see a MuseScore option like this:
Default MIDI Export folder: C:/users/john/documents/opus1/mid
That way, the we'd start at the top of the MIDI directory tree every time, and would minimize the number of mouse clicks needed to go to the desired directory in that tree.
Or (with more development effort), offer the option to do it either way. That is, in addition to the hard coded folder name field, add a check box that says "Start at last export location". But having just the folder name field alone would be simpler & less confusing, IMHO.

Use MuseScore in batch-mode, using the -o option

I think this is a good idea (though I admit I haven't checked how it works already). I certainly prefer to have separate defaults for each export type.

That's tough, though, because until you've already opened the dialog, MuseScore doesn know which export type you intend to select. And I think it would be non-standard / unexpected behavior to have the dialog suddenly change locations when you select a new type.

Well, if the user doesn't want the it to change folders, then he simply doesn't specify a default folder.
I'm a programmer by trade, and to me, this seems quite easy to implement.

i mean, the separate defaults for each file type would be awkward, because we don't know what file type will be selected when we put up the dialog, and I kind of think changing folders when you change file types would be unexpected and probably frowned upon by most GUI style guidelines.
Nothing wrong with the general idea of an optional fixed default Almost definitely not what most would want - the current behavior works very well for the common use case where you are converting a bunch of files and wanting all the output file to go into the same folder.
Do consider the possibility of using shell scripts, make files, or other command line solutions - proabbly much easier to get *exactly* the behaviopr you want, including automatically selecting folder based on filename or whatever.

This used to be the case, but when I export a pdf, the default folder is now always the original default - documents/musescore/scores - no matter how many times I export somewhere else. (This is my first post, since I have gotten answers to everything else without posting, so generally, I am extremely happy with musescore!)

Sounds like there could be a permissions problem on your system, MuseScore being unable to store its settings properly. What OS?
