Audio Export Saving as PDF

• Aug 10, 2015 - 02:24

I recently upgraded to Musescore 2.0.2 and was pleasantly surprised to see exporting as a mp3 was an option, however when I tried to do so with a score I had created, the file saved as a PDF. I tried again multiple times making sure the file save type was mp3, but I had no luck. The PDF looks very nice, but it's not quite what I'm hoping for :)

The method I used to export:
File>Export
I then changed the file type to mp3 (as well as trying other types of audio file types) and then hit save. The file destination showed only a PDF file of the score and no audio files.
If I change the file type to an audio file and then add the appropriate file extension to the save name Musescore will correctly export .wav .ogg .mid .flac but will NOT export mp3

Attached is the score I had the issue with (In case the score is the source of the problem)
The file was originally created in musescore 1, then I updated to musescore 2, opened the file in musescore 2, and then encountered the saving problem.

Musescore Version 2.0.2 Revision: f51dc11
OS: Window's Vista (which may be my problem)

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Well, I can't speak to what's causing the problem (Windows Vista may be a good guess), but I was able to export an MP3 without trouble—see attached. Do any other audio formats work? What about MusicXML?

A possible workaround would be to upload the score to MuseScore.com and download an MP3 from there.

EDIT: Sorry, I missed that you said you tried other audio formats.

EDIT 2: No, hold on, you changed your original post. Okay. So WAV, OGG, and FLAC audio are exported correctly BUT with the wrong file extension?

My guess is that it's something to do with Vista. When I try to save other audio formats (.wav .ogg .mid .flac) and add the correspoding file extension to the save name, they'll save just fine, but mp3 won't.

Uploading the score to Musescore.com and then saving as an mp3 worked excellently, Thank you so much! I'll probably just do that from now on.

Which language settings are you using? A while ago we had a translation mistake resulting in something like this.
But indeed in Vista and XP there's a problem about having to manually adjust the extension.
