tempo
Hello,
I'm sorry if this has been answered already. My question is this: I set a tempo in the new score wizard, which turned out to be too slow. All I want to do is modify the tempo I initially set for the piece. I can't figure out how to do that. Seems a very basic question, I know, but I can't find an answer specifically to that question. I see in the handbook (p. 24) that "You can change any settings specified during the new score wizard, even after you start working on the score" -- but exactly how to change the initially specified tempo is not something that I've been able to figure out.
Thanks! Sorry if I'm being stupid.

Thank you! I had seen that, but hadn't realised that it was the way to override what I'd set in the initial wizard. So it's just a case of selecting the first bar of the piece, going to the tempo palette, and inserting the desired tempo, and making sure to tick the "follow text" box. I've also noticed that I can hide the tempo text from the score by unticking the "visible" box.
Thanks again for your help.

I'm a bit confused. You shouldn't need to insert the desired tempo, just edit the tempo that is already there. Maybe you mean that you *didn't* actually enter a tempo in the first place? If that is the case, then you do indeed need to add one now. But if you did enter a tempo originally, just edit it.

This is the thing. I entered a tempo in the Wizard when I created the file. My question was how to get back to that wizard and change the tempo. The only tempo I had entered was the one in the wizard. The instructions you gave me worked fine. I went to the first bar of the piece and entered a tempo. There wasn't one there to edit. But yes, I did enter a tempo at the very beginning in the wizard, and it was that I was trying to find and couldn't. Does this clarify?
I'm now not sure I've done the right thing.
Thanks!

Which version of MuseScore? In 2.0.2 you'd have to tick the tempo box in the wizzared and specify a BPM value, that should than result in a tempo marking in the first measure, showing a quarter note, an " = " and the BPM value you entered

Yes, 2.0.2 -- I thought I ticked the tempo box and specified a tempo, but no tempo marking showed in the first measure, so perhaps I was mistaken, and failed to tick the tempo box.

It's always easier to heklp if you attach the score - see the File attachments link right below where you type.
But yes, if you specified a tempo in the wizard, it should have put an actual tempo marking in your score. My guess if perhaps you meant to specify the tmepo but never actually checked the box. Or perhaps you specified one then deleted it later.

I'll attach the score now.
I imagine your guess must be right. I must have failed to check the box even though I thought I had done so. That seems to be the only explanation for the lack of a tempo marking at the beginning of the piece. But anyway, I've put one in now (as you'll see from the attachment).
By the way, the piece isn't finished yet! I have yet to finish the bass part and add all the text.... :)
Thanks for the help. I've learned something today.
PS It's a beautiful piece of sixteenth-century music, by the way. If anyone would like it when it's finished, I'm more than happy to share. Just let me know.
