Adding note names to the score?
Hi
I am new to Musescore and I'm helping to establish a youth cadet band.
The musical ability of the cadets varies greatly and so as to allow both music readers and non-music readers to take part from the outset to maintain interest from all, I would like to be able to add the names of the notes to the score.
Going forward, all players will be taught to read the music so this is an interim measure and for brand new members.
I know that you can add Stave Text, but wondered if there is an easier way to do this rather than having to add each individual note name?
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Steve

Welcome aboard, Steve/Jesse! ;-) Yes, we have exactly what you're looking for in the form of the Note Names plugin. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/plugins-0 for details.

Is there a way to reverse the order of the note names? For instance, looking at the piano keyboard from left to right would be C,G instead of G,C for a two note chord.

I'm not sure what you mean about left to right, but there are two versions of the plugin: https://musescore.org/en/project/notenames

Thank you for responding so quickly, Isaac, and you were quite helpful.
From "left to right" I meant as you look at a piano keyboard where the keys are A,B,C,D,E,F and G from left to right.
I appreciate the two plugins and guessed the one for "notes named top to bottom" would assign notes in G, F, E, D, C, B and A order (right to left if you will), and the other "notes named bottom to top" would assign notes in A, B, C, etc. order (left to right if you will).
I installed the "notes named bottom to top" and that did the trick, although I had to try the install a couple of times before it worked as expected.
Although I am using this feature to help out a musician friend and probably won't use it much or to need the notes to be in "notes named top to bottom" order, given that the plugin name seem to be the same, is there a way to install both so I can choose within Musescore which to use?

You can install both, but in order to be able to use both at the same time you need to make sure that a) you don't overwrite one with the other and b) make sure it generates a different entry in the plugins menu. This should happen already, the bottom-up version should show under "Plugins/Notes/Note Names Bottom-Up" vs. the 'normal' one as "Plugins/Notes/Note Names"

Thank you very much for both the plugins and your response!
I did change the file names as you noted and edited the "top to bottom" plugin to display "Note Names in Top to Bottom Order" and similarly for the bottom-to-top plugin which is helpful for the obsessive compulsive part of me.
Thank you again and for all your contributions to Musescore!
