Can't use polish diacritic signs on Mac
Hello,
MuseScore: 0.9.6.3, Mac: 10.5.8 (polish version)
I can't get polish letters "ą, ę, ó, ś, ż, ź, ć, ń, ł" in any of text fields (title, subtitle, system text, lyrics).
The problem occurs only with MuseScore and only with lower case letters. Namely:
1. When I put ⌥+shift+a+e+o etc. I get "Ą", "Ę", "Ó" etc. But,
2. If I want to use lower case and type: ⌥+a+e+o etc. I get nothing - no letter, no sings.
As I said earlier I've got no problem in typing polish signs in other application, i.e text editors, browsers etc.
Best,
P

In case you happen to have a Windows machine, are you able to reproduce this problem on Windows as well?

Mac uses the alt. key for typing several special characters. Windows uses the alt key for opening the main menus so the bug wouldn't apply to anything except Mac OS.

AFAIK on Mac from Leopard keyboard layout for polish language is similar to PC. So, I as I wrote earlier I can use right option key which has similar function to AltGr see here . I'am using QWERTY keyboard with so called "polish programmer layout" which works the same way on Mac as on PC in application such as OpenOffice, others text editor, Firefox etc. Once more - I don't have the problem in other application on Mac - all polish letter display correctly.
Any help will be greatly appreciate.
Best regards

This problem only exist on Mac. MuseScore on WinXP and on Linux works well with polish letter.

It does not only exists on Mac, but Ubuntu 12.04, too. I mean, I use Slovak keyboard layout and their are two dead keys (used for Slovak texts—´ and ˇ. Some diacritical letters (such as ď/Ď, ĺ/Ĺ, ó/Ó) which can be typed only by using these dead keys. If I want to type them on English UK kb l/o (on Ubuntu) using AltGr key, they have the very same result: a letter without diacritics.
I tried this on MuseScore 1.2 and MuseScore Night Builds 5663 and 5665, same results.
PS—It would be nice to implement copy-paste option into lyrics fields.

You already *can* paste text, including diacritic characters, into lyrics. You can even take whole lines of text and paste them into your song a word at a time by continually hitting ctrl-V.

Well, I tried MS 1.3 on Win 7 64bit, I can copy/paste text into mscore and insert letters with dead keys, but on Ubuntu 13.04 32-bit (which is my default os), I cannot. I since my last reply, I have made a fresh install of U13.04x32, but I cannot insert special letters at all, only if I use a Win pc.

did you tried using the system characters table
I just inserted U+A749 LATIN SMALL LETTER L WITH HIGH STROKE, see attached, but I'm not sure it the polish character
BTW I don't understand why musescore uses its own character table, and not the system one

Yes, I tried to use it. No better.
btw, ł (U+0179) is the Polish char.
I don't understand it, too.

hum
In my table U+0179 shows Ź
However I copied the ł in your above message and pasted it in Musescore 1.3 lyrics
Please note that these copies are pasted to Times New Roman
Which police do you use ?

sorry, my fault - it's U+0142.
I use Linux Libertine G font, but it does not matter - with any font (incl TNR) the result is the same.

I installed Libertine and was able to paste the polish l to «Libertine» title text
I attach the resulting file

though I have not tried the compse key, I found another bug link. I use 4 different keyboard layouts, so I created a new user that has only one (Slovak). Logged into that new user, run the mscore, tried to input a letter using a dead key and—it did worked. So the conclusion is that it is NOT an mscore problem, but rather a xorg one. But I do not know what to do with this—is not there anyone who could help with this? At least with reporting to xorg? Thank U in advance.
