Can't seem to edit score the way I want to
Hi,
I'm new to Musescore and am using to edit a score I've imported in midi. I'm having a hard time making the edits I want. For example, if I'd like to delete some notes or rests, the system replaces the rest of the measure with other notes or rests. I tried to change a rest to replace it with a note using the method described in the handbook (i.e. select it whie not in Note input mode and then click on the correct note or number shortcut) but nothing happens when I do that. Now i've got a measure that doesn't make sense but I can't delete any of the rests that have been added automaticallty when I deleted some notes, and I can't add any new notes.
Is there anything I'm doingh wrong?
Thanks!
Sophie

It always helps to attach the specific score you are having toruble wiuth and epxlain precisely, step by step, what you are doing. but in general, I would suggest you re-read the Handbook sections on note inut, also watch the tutorial videos, and things should make more sense. Basically, deleting rests or notes *by itself* makes no musical sense - there still needs to be the correct numebrs of beats in the measure. So in general, don't think in terms of "deleting" something, but rather, *replacing* it. The delete button replaces notes by rests, thus preserving the length of the measure. Deleting rests would leave the meausre with too few beats. Musically, what you presumably really want is to *replace* the rests with something else - like notes. Maybe the notes that follow those rests? So select them and use cut & past to replace the rests.

Thanks Mark, I've listenend to a video tutorial and I'm starting to understand better how this program works. Also, I realized I had pressed the 'replace pitches without changing rhythms' key and that prevented me to change notes. Now that I'm getting used to the environment, I must say this is a great free music editing tool.
Thanks for your help!
