How to make beam skip over notes
I'm not sure if this is possible, but is there a way to make a beam skip over a note? For instance, you have four sixteenth notes in a row. I want notes #1 and #3 connected by a beam on the bottom, and notes #2 and #4 connected by a beam above. The beam from #1 to #3 would skip #2, and the beam from #2 to #4 would skip #3. Let's say it's | q d q d |, where the q's are connected by a beam and the d's are connected by a beam (using letters as notes for the win!).
For reference, I am transcribing a copy of the 1st Bach Cello Suite without any notations so I can make my own on a fresh sheet. About 3/4 of the way into the Prelude there is a section which utilizes this kind of notation to indicate alternating between fingered notes on the D string and playing the open A string.

Use voices (beams over rets are possible) and hide the rests
