Help, no sound!!!
Dowloaded this a week ago ish as I had tried other software and wasn't please with them. Started using this and loved it, I imported a Midi file in to much success then played around with it. When it came to try and play it back, there was no sound. I looked on here for solutions and realise I'm not the only one.
I tried restoring it to factory settings using instructions on one of the post and typing -F after the line, but no luck!
I tried going into synthesiser, and play settings and changed things and restarted in between, still nothing.
Really strugling to think of any other options now. The only thing I can think of is maybe it doesn't work if you are trying to listen through headphones for some reason???
Any help would be much appreciated as starting to lose my mind a bit now, Thanks

Are you listening to the computer or to an attached MIDI device?

Its a laptop so listening straight to the computor, but via headphones that are plugged in at the side if that makes sense?

Does the audio through your headphones work with other programs?

@Dawn x, also take a look at the system mixer:

I admit, I hadn't checked the system sound mixer. silly me, but just done it, un muted the speaker underneath, got my hopes up, tried again, nothing. Closed musescore and opened it again, still nothing. So not that either by the seems of it?

Ha! No! Cannot believe I didn't think to check that. I will try some other headphones, then report back.

Ok, headphones do work on the internet and listening to other things when settings are right so it's deffinitely something to do with Musescore itself. Any other ideas people??

No, not a Mac, a windows machine.

I notice on the image above, there is a sound symol next to the midi input button, and that there is a lot more options on the sound mixer than I get. I only get 1 muse Score setting on my sound mixer. Could this be something to do with it.

Not really. That just reflects the difference between your two machines.

The picture shows 1.3 / 2.0.2 / Nightly (which can coexist) to display the respective icons in the system mixer.
Maybe you should attach an image here of your settings (Edit / Preferences ...> I / O);
However, if the speakers are working and not the headphones might be some setting in your sound card?
I'm still betting it's something to with the Synthesizer. Could you share a screenshot of it, in the "Fluid" tab?

Ok, lets see if this works...

Aha! The case of the missing SoundFont. It's supposed to look like this: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/synthesizer#soundfont
FluidR3Mono_GM.sf3 should be loaded by default. If it isn't, and if even running the revert process doesn't put it back, you can manually install a SoundFont from here: https://musescore.org/en/node/36171#list

Ok, tried downloading the Sound font, but whe I opened Muse Score, it still didn't appear in the Synthesizer? Any ideas how I link the 2 together?

Ha! No worries, I've figured it out after a lot of moving things around and trying different things. I now have a Sound font on my menu, yayyyyyy! I've played it and it sounds beutiful after all the trouble. Ha! Thank you for all you help everyone.

Two steps: install it in the proper folder (https://musescore.org/en/node/36171#install), then click the "Load" button in the Synthesizer. You'll probably then want to use the "Set as Default" button so you won't have to do it again.
On the other hand, I can't help but wonder why the revert process isn't working. It would certainly save some effort.
