Installing version 1.0

I am running version 0.9.6.3 on my PC and want to install version 1.0 and have some
questions: Do I have to uninstall the old version first before installing the new one? And, if so,
does the new version automatically copy the (individual) preferences of the old version?
Is it wise to first copy and paste the old version and keeping it as an ‘_old’ file?
I am using Windows XP with SP2 installed.

Your preferences are not deleted when you uninstall or upgrade. You will still have your old preferences when you upgrade to MuseScore 1.0. Uninstalling the old version first is recommended.
