split staff but keep beaming.
From an imported midi file I get a single staff with correct beaming but jumping between treble and bass clefs. I want to keep the beaming but split the staffs, as for piano.

Right click the staff, then choose split staff?

In that case, don't use split staff, but Edit→Instruments to add a 2nd staff to the existing instrument (it'll be empty).
Then select the notes you wish to move down, and use cross-staff notation to do so: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/cross-staff-notation
