Lyric creating and editing in version 3.5

Entering lyrics is a breeze but editing them is a different matter altogether. Maybe someone can point me to pages in the MuseScore Handbook or provide answers to the following lyrics issues.

  1. Is there a way to change this default lyric point size? (The default point size for lyrics is 11pt.; I wanted to use 14pt.)

  2. Is there an easy way to select all the syllables in a lyric to perform a global edit? (The only way I could do this was to ctrl select each syllable one at a time until the entire lyric was selected. Then I could global change to 14pt.)

  1. Either select a syllable, change size in Inspector, Set to Style or Format > Style > Text Styles, Odd and Even Lyrics
  2. (But you don't want it to change the size) right-click syllable, select all similar

  1. Yes I know I can select a syllable and change the point size. This issue is how to make 14pt the default point size for lyrics. I do not understand your answer. There is no such thing as Format>Style>Text Styles, Odd and Even Lyrics on my version 3.5 of MuseScore. What I have is Format>Style...>Lyrics; on this page there is no option to set the default point size for lyrics.

The "Set as style" button ("S" icon) right next to where you change the size in the Inspector is the part you missed. Thats the simple way to take a change you make once and make it apply to all elements of that type, past present and future. Select All Similar is nice to when you only want to affect past and present and don't care about the future, but it's more work and not as effective as "Set as style" in most cases.

As for Format / Style, there is an entry there for Text Styles, its the very last one on the list, you might need to scroll down to see it. Then you will see the separate entries for odd & even lyrics, and the ability to set font and other text style settings. So that works the same way as using the "Set as style" button in the INspector, it's just a bit more work.
