Crescendo and decrescendo not working
Crescendo or decrescendo works only when it has dynamics on both edges.
Is there a way to make crescendo or decrescendo work without dynamics, for a single note?

Select the (de)crescendo open the inspector and put a value in the velocity change field. To see velocities for the different dynamics, insert one into a score select it and look at the velocity field in the inspector.

Hi Mike320,
I have been using the velocities thing on crecs and dims. Was wondering if there is a chart I could print off as an aide memoir for the different dynamic marks velocities?

There's a table that tells MuseScore 3.0's settings on this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamics_(music)

That is brilliant. Thank you.

The MuseScore code might help here too, see (share/workscpaces/Advanced.xml, lines 1838 - 1983](https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/blob/d0a08e7dd50e196591f264bb8ce…)
Thanks Jojo
To check that i am understanding this correctly....
If I had a note at "mf" followed by a crescendo hairpin to "f" BUT in this example the hairpin didn't work... If I then set the hairpins velocity to 16 ( the difference between 80 and 96) it would then give a smooth crescendo?

Yes. If it doesn't work a score is needed. As mf 's velocity actually is the default, you could even drop that
