Open Hi Hat (How to do Open Hi Hat in drum score?)
Hi All,
In my drum score sheet, for Open Hi Hat I'm using or indicating it by invoking from Palettes/Articulations/More/O - for Open.
However, when I playback the drum score, I don't hear or I actually cannot discern the Open Hi Hat sound, it just sound the same as normal Hi Hat.
Can anyone advise me whether I've done it wrong? Or that there's actually another way of doing the Open Hi Hat
Thanks In Advance

If you use it often, assign a shortcut to the open hi-hat pitch, otherwise just select it from the drumset input window.

Thanks a lot. Now I find the Open Hi Hat from the drumset iput window. But it's "x" symbol is between Line 1 and Line 2 of the score bar.
Okay, what I'll do is to add an extra/ or retain my original "O" on top of the "x" symbol to make it look more "O"PEN Hi Hat.
Once again, Thank you so much for the help.

One of the advantages of the "Edit Drumset" window is that you can.. well.. edit the definition. Thus you can change the notehead to appear on whatever line in whatever voice with whatever notehead you require for your notation.

Yes, I have explored a bit here and find it comprehensive and very much customizable, good.

The Drumset editor doesn't support adding articulation symbols automatically though, like an "open" circle on the same notehead on the same notehead & staffline. A workaround is to do it manually (when you're otherwise done with the score) by using Select similar → Same pitch (Bb2) + Same Staff, add the "open" symbol, and set the Staff line of Open Hi-Hat to -1 in the Drumset editor.
(Which is a common way to notate open hi-hats. I tend to use X+circle, but it's not always ideal. I have never actually seen a score use different staff lines for closed & open hi-hat, like Mscore does by default.)
