Capo
I want to the treble clef staff that is linked to the guitar tab to reflect the note as if the capo were on the 5th fret. So that the first note, an open E string, plays as A. I've gone to Format > Style > Chord Symbols > Capo and change Capo fret position to 5. This seem to have no effect.
What do I need to do?

Capo has an effect on Chord Symbols, not on the notes, that is why that setting in on Style > Format > Chord symbols ;-)
You'd need to transpose, like via staff properties

I use capo a lot and it does affect the note playback but NOT the written fret numbers so I don't follow what you're saying here. There is no need to transpose.

However, your attached score does not have any open E string. It shows DADGAD tuning - so an open D string with capo at the 5th fret is G:
Capo5th- DADGAD_tuning.mscz
Using Standard tuning (EADGBE) an open E string with capo at the 5th fret is A:
Capo5th- Standard_tuning.mscz

Sorry, I forgot that it was DADGAD, this is what I want. So the Open D string would play as G, as you say.
