how do I delete tremolo marks?
I figured out how to add tremolos to a note, but am embarrassed to say that now I am confused as to how to get rid of tremolos I do not want on notes on my chart when I decide I do not want them?

Select the tremolo and press del.

I tried that and the entire note deleted... I have imported a Musescore file from someone and he has three lined tremolo marks on a number of the notes. I tried to remove them by clicking on the tremolo part and hitting delete, but the note ended up deleted? Any more specific advice or trouble shooting you could offer would be great. I have a Macbook if that matters.

Try zooming in more to be sure you are truly selecting the tremolo only. If you continue to have trouble, please attach your score and precise steps to reproduce the problem.
Having a "toggle tremolo" command would help here. See #305777: Make applying tremolo a toggle operation .
