Starting in safe mode with no other apps running MuseScore will crash whenever command key is pressed with any mscz file. Using pull-down menu doesn't cause problem.

I believe this is a conflict between Qt and a MacOS 11.2 feature. I think it was the "zoom" or "highlight cursor" feature of some sorts. Disabling that MacOS feature prevents the crash.

I also run MuseScore latest version on my 2019 MacBookPro with Intel chip, same OS but no problem. I don't think it's the OS but I think it may have something to do with the M1?

Check the linked issue below? Do you have that feature enabled and then still not experience a crash?
In that case it might be that that feature is only incompatible on M1s.

Disabling hover text seems to have fixed the problem, I wasn't aware of hover text but did observe it immediately before the crashes. Many thanks.

Just a follow up, hover text was disabled in my powerbook which had no problems.

If you don't mind the further follow-up test: Does it then also crash on your powerbook if you then do enable hover text?
To confirm the problem is with hover text in general, and not just on M1s.
